Here Come Da Judge

Everyone has heard the myth that when you dip a sleeping person’s hand into warm water, they wet the bed. Well, I didn’t hear that until I was about 12, but then I couldn’t wait to test it out on my little sister, Spazz.

I convinced Heff to participate in this prank. We waited until about midnight, got the water ready, went up to her room, and waited outside the door to make sure she was asleep.

What we heard made us laugh way more than making her pee the bed would have.

Spazz was snoring and talking in her sleep. And she kept saying the same thing. She’d take a big snorting breath in, then exhale saying “Here come da judge. Here come da judge.” It was a line from Laugh-In, a comedy show on TV in the ’60s.

We were laughing so hard we didn’t even bother with the warm water thing. And the next morning we were all over her: “Hey Spazz, who dat I hear coming?” “Hey Spazz, seen da judge lately?” We were a riot.

She never believed us and still maintains that it never happened.

Valuable Life Lesson:

Good pranks always have a payoff, whether it's the intended one or not.
